Job Summary
Chapelboro.com is searching for an experienced Front-End Developer to take over the design, implementation and maintenance of our web site and other digital products. You'll work closely with our sales and content staff to develop compelling new sections on time. You'll need to be able to handle the process from start to finish: sketching ideas, presenting wireframes, designing full-color comps based on our company identity, building out code according to modern web standards, and integrating it all into our enterprise CMS. An ideal candidate will learn our templating language quickly (it's written in PHP), has strong UI skills as well as the ability to translate technical language into clear, simple language. We'd also love it for you to keep tabs on web trends and emerging technologies and opportunities (like web fonts and responsive design) so you can show us how to utilize them in our operations. Salary range $37,000 to $45,000 depending on experience level.
 
Job Requirements
Here's what we're looking for:
  • Expert knowledge in HTML, CSS, & JavaScript. Knowledge of jQuery and Flash are a huge bonus.
  • High fidelity in translating designs from a graphic designer into HTML/CSS layouts.
  • Familiarity with templating systems, knowledge in PHP or other templating language. Knowledge of Smarty a plus.
  • The ability to estimate accurately how long something will take to build.
  • Passionate about speed optimization and reducing page load time.
  • An entrepreneurial spirit with strong self-management skills.
  • The ability to come up with good ideas yourself (and not wait around to be told what to do.)

Commercial Copywriter
 
Radio is “Theatre of the Mind”… and we’re looking for a Commercial Copywriter who can create magical performances for the minds of our listeners.
 
Every day we help enable local commerce in the Greater Chapel Hill-Carrboro community by airing commercials for local businesses that:
  • Get Attention
  • Pique Interest
  • Create Desire
  • Spur Action
Are you a whiz with words?
Can you create copy that influences customer behavior?
Are you able to develop a slogan for a business?
Can you write commercials that utilize various formats and styles, i.e. characters, dialogue, voice of the customer, humor?
Can you quickly understand the “Unique Selling Proposition” of a business and link the client’s features with benefits?

Students: Get Broadcast Experience For Credit!!

1360 WCHL News-Talk AM Radio Needs News, Sales, Production and Marketing Interns.

Are you interested in commercial writing and/or news reporting?

We need reporters with flexible hours and close ties to the university and community. Reporters will cover University issues such as Board of Trustee Meetings and UNC’s Board of Governor meetings, community issues, government meetings, politics and more.

Your byline and voice will be included and aired.

Interested in creative writing and acting?

Be creative and write commercials for radio.

Are you interested in social media, marketing, and production? Interns will assist with community and station events, promotions, sports broadcasts and live remotes.

We will provide you with recording equipment and studio use.

This internship will offer great, hands-on-experience that you just won’t get from a classroom. You will walk away from the internship with tangible audio and written pieces for your portfolio.

Some experience is preferred but not necessary. Dependability is a MUST.

This is a non-paid position.
